Our story
For almost two decades, philanthropists, family businesses, foundations, and business leaders committed to changing the world for the better have been at the forefront of Active Philanthropy’s work.
Active Philanthropy was founded by Felicitas von Peter with the vision of empowering philanthropists and entrepreneurs as a force for good. Initially, the organisation supported individuals, philanthropic families and foundations to maximise the impact of their charitable endeavours, gaining recognition for initiatives like climate awareness expeditions to Greenland.
Recognizing the increasing impact of climate change on health, social justice, and democracy, Active Philanthropy shifted its focus to addressing the climate crisis. This refocusing introduced a comprehensive intersectoral approach to climate philanthropy, demonstrating how integrating a climate lens amplifies the effectiveness of charitable portfolios.
Active Philanthropy has expanded its portfolio of services and grown its experienced and dedicated team to support philanthropists, family businesses, foundations, and business leaders in protecting the planet for future generations.
Driving climate action in cooperation with international partners
Active Philanthropy collaborates with ambitious changemakers and philanthropic champions. Our partners include leading international climate scientists, foundations, philanthropic networks as well as non-governmental organisations to generate and support efficient climate action through philanthropy. Since 2019, we have been closely collaborating with the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), one of the world’s leading funders of children’s issues and climate action.
